About

I am motivated to work as a social carer because I genuinely value connection, kindness, and supporting people to live fulfilling lives. Many people who are older, living with disability, or experiencing isolation simply need someone who will show up with patience, warmth, and respect. I find it deeply meaningful to be that person. I am particularly passionate about helping people stay connected to their community and maintain their independence. Small things—like sharing a conversation over a cup of tea, helping someone attend an appointment, or supporting them to participate in activities they enjoy—can make a significant difference to someone’s wellbeing. My motivation also comes from believing that everyone deserves dignity, companionship, and support that feels personal rather than clinical. I believe I would be good at social care because I naturally bring empathy, reliability, and genuine interest in people. I listen carefully, treat people with respect, and take the time to understand what matters most to them. I am also patient and calm, which helps people feel comfortable and safe. Building trust is important in this type of work, and I pride myself on being someone people can rely on. Through my work developing The Neighbourly Care Co, I am focused on creating supportive, friendly environments where people feel valued and included. My approach is centred on kindness, dignity, and meaningful connection rather than just completing tasks. I enjoy activities that bring people together and create a sense of connection. One of my passions is organising relaxed social gatherings such as morning teas or small community meet-ups where people can share conversation and feel included. I also enjoy spending time in cafés, exploring local communities, and creating welcoming environments where people feel comfortable and valued. I am a highly creative person and enjoy working with my hands. One of my favourite hobbies is spinning and weaving on my Japanese SAORI loom, which I find both relaxing and expressive. I also enjoy gardening, writing proper letters, and cooking—activities that allow me to slow down and appreciate simple, meaningful moments. I have a strong interest in supporting older people and individuals who may experience social isolation. I am passionate about helping people stay connected to their community and maintain independence through meaningful social interaction and activities. My key skills include strong communication, empathy, organisation, and reliability. I am a good listener and naturally build rapport with people, helping them feel respected and understood. I am also proactive and enjoy creating ideas and environments that improve people’s wellbeing and quality of life. I hold a Bachelor of Social Welfare, which has given me a strong understanding of person-centred support, community wellbeing, and the importance of dignity and respect in care. I also bring lived experience of overcoming my own mental health challenges, which has deepened my empathy, resilience, and ability to connect with others who may be facing difficulties. People often describe me as warm, bubbly, and approachable, with a bright sense of humour. I believe these qualities help create a relaxed and supportive environment where people feel comfortable, valued, and understood. I aim to bring kindness, positivity, and genuine human connection to the work I do.
