About

Hi, my name is Jenny, I think I would make a great hero for many reasons. 1. I care - I would like to make a difference in someone's life and connect with people in the community who have a need for this. 2. I have empathy and understanding that not everyone's path in life is the same and some people have greater challenges than others, and therefore different needs and goals. I bring the experience and insight of being a mother of two children, one of who has autism, a daughter of elderly parents and my own education. 3. I would bring enthusiasm and energy to assist those I work with. 4. I have excellent people skills and enjoy meeting others and building new relationships. 5. Importantly, I look to help people with what they want help with, not what I feel they need help with - help has to person focused. I have a range of interests: reading, walking, jigsaws, board games, movies, good food and I love learning new things as well. I graduated with a Bachelor of Speech, Hearing and Language Sciences despite having difficult personal circumstances throughout my degree. I have a child with autism who has significant mental health challenges and it has been a difficult balance between study and home. I am proud that I was able to persist with my studies and achieved my goal of completing my degree. I have really enjoyed the experience of all the new things I have learnt particularly in regards to language. A favourite quote of mine is: It takes a village to raise a child. I think this quote can be extended to the general community in that we all need to work together for the best societal outcomes.
