About
My name is Shay and I have recently finished up with my previous employer, Creche & Kindergarten Association Limited head office. It was a difficult decision but i know in my heart, it was the right decision for myself and my family. I have been in corporate for most of my adult life and always felt empty, always yearning for a meaningful role where I could possibly be the reason for someone smiling that day, or providing care and nurturing to an individual that needed and wanted me around. I have experience with mental illness, with my son having Aspergers, my mother with Early Onset Dementia, Depression and and my father with Schizophrenia. I don't see my life as complicated but instead happy they have me to understand and calm them on their worst days. In all my previous roles, I have played mother hen and always been the person that noticed when a fellow team member was struggling and needed that warmth and empathy that I know got them through some days in the office. I have a blue card, NDIS screening, Police Check and First Aid Certification; and happy to obtain whatever documentation or training I require to make a change and start doing something that makes me feel good (and hopefully the person i am supporting!) at the end of the day. At present, my 20 year old son and mother live with me; this was indeed a large factor in leaving my full time role in Kedron which included an additional 20 hours of driving to and fro. I was always worried I wasn't spending enough on the homefront and it bothered me on a daily basis. I am now reaching out to local care organisations, looking for 'that' role that will be the cherry on top of my successful transition from NSW to QLD. Please contact me if you have any relevant roles I could thrive in and make that difference. All I can add is that I like to walk, take dogs to the beach, paint, clean and shop lol I have always been a very emotionally intelligent person.. Almost impossible not too as I have had my share of disability, illness and mental health issues in the family. I can read a room, always gravitate to positive energy, and can make whomever I am with the most important person on earth! I know I am no more important than anyone else, and that where my strength lies; we are all equal and need assistance at some point in our lives and I feel fulfilled to be able to be that person, for anybody, if they need it. I wish the same if I needed help. All the best, and i hope to be able to support you in any way you require. Shay xx
