Good day everyone, my name is George Adung, I’m happy to express my feeling and tell you a bit about myself, but as time goes by you will learn more about me while practising my knowledge and skills with you. First of all, I worked as a primary school teacher back in Sudan and Egypt for refugee students and also worked in a homeless residential home for the primary age group in Khartoum both founded by the Catholic Church. I am currently a youth coordinator in my community helping them to understand our cultural aspects. Being a community activist helped me to interact with youth in many diverse communities when I volunteered in a basketball tournament organisation by Athletic Australia Red Roo Basketball Club and Oyiti Foundation for Multicultural Youth Inc. Living in Australia has contributed a lot to my work performance because I worked in many fields such as the security industry, facility services and production companies. “I am very passionate about working as a social carer because the principles and values apply within the field connect with my values and understanding, also I feel that social work allows me to connect with someone in need of patience, understanding and respect so they can be able to choose their likes independently and help them achieve their goals. In my workplace, I will rely on my ethics and deep understanding of the high standards the NDIS Quality and Safeguard Commission sets for professionals in social support work plus Work Health and Safety. I’m determined to apply, them throughout my career. “I have always wanted to go into social work as a career because I feel the field offers many opportunities to advance in different areas and enable you to continue developing your knowledge and skills, also I’m keen to undertake more understanding in mental health counselling and apply the skills I developed in my experience which will drive me to achieve more in my career. Lastly, I’m not perfect as a human being but have an opportunity to turn my weakness into a positivite manner by applying practice standards and organisation policy as a learning platform that will help me carry out my work activities pleasantly. Thank you Like Family for giving me such an opportunity I hope to continue my development as a social worker here, and I'm excited to be able to contribute my skills to achieve positive outcomes.” Yours faithfully, George Adung
