About
What motivates me to work as a social support worker is my passion for helping people live as independently and confidently as possible, while supporting them to maintain their dignity and autonomy. I have over three years of experience in support roles, including two years volunteering in disability support and over a year working in residential aged care. In both of these roles, I have gained extensive experience providing social support, spending time chatting with people and helping them engage in activities that bring them joy and connection. I also have experience supporting people living with Dementia, using patient and respectful communication to help them feel comfortable, understood, and supported. I enjoy alternative and metal music, spending time with animals, and caring for fish. I also play the bass guitar and enjoy painting. I bring a good sense of humour, empathy, and a strong sense of justice to both my work and my relationships with others.
