About

I recently turned 60 years of age. I have been married for 39 years and have a daughter who is 27 years old. She recently became engaged and has bought her first home. My work history, I'm talking over 35 years ago, was in Local Government positions, administration, data entry, property management and human resources. My favourite position was working within the human resources field. Dealing with people internally and externally. I enjoyed the interaction with the different departments, management and other staff members. I feel I am a strong communicator and have good interpersonal skills. I am able to prioritise my work, ensuring deadlines are met. I enjoy working independently or within a team environment. After having my daughter and moving from South Australia to Victoria, I undertook a number of part time and casual positions within administration, warehouse operations and food processing industries. Having spent the past five years working within a factory environment, I felt that I was ready to undertake a new direction and do something more substantial and rewarding. It was suggested by a family member and a close friend to apply to become a support worker. The more I thought about it the more confident I became and really thought this could be a path I would really enjoying going down. I have a sister who has some health issues and I have been her point of contact for the past few years. I am there for her just as a companion, assisting her with home care and cleaning and helping out in the garden. I guess just being there for her when she is down and needs some company. My elderly mother lives interstate, in Hobart, Tasmania. She has some health issues and suffers from extremely painful arthritis. I speak to her on a regular basis and she is always saying how she is unable to do the simple jobs around her house anymore. I thought this is exactly what I want to do. If I am able to go out and assist the elderly or people who are having a hard time, and are struggling to do day to day things, how rewarding would this be. Although I do not have any past experience, I am confident that I will be able to meet all your requirements and work to the best of my abilities. My passions are gardening and playing golf. I am currently a member of the Keysborough Golf Club and have been a member for over 10 years. I was elected as a Committee Member which involved preparing and organising weekly and monthly competitions for over 100 lady members. Assisting with the preparation of weekly prizes, luncheons and Charity Day functions. My main duties were just to provide support to the lady members and ensure that their experience as a member of the Club was as enjoyable as possible. Prior to this I was a member at the Waverley Golf Club. I was voted in as Lady President and spent 4 years in this position. During this time I was voted on as a Board of Director where I was involved in the running of the Golf Club, finances, food and beverages, charity days and tournaments. Being a member of a Golf Club you are coming into contact with so many different people. People with different cultural backgrounds, different life experiences, and ladies of all ages. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working and being involved with these ladies. When I am not playing golf I spend the rest of my time in my garden. I am very passionate about my garden. I would not say I am an expert but I really enjoy planting hedges and have been known to dabble in a little topiary, shaping some of my hedges. My family are members of the St Kilda Football Club. We have been members for over 18 years now. We enjoy going to the games and supporting them. I enjoy travelling. Most of my family are living interstate, so I try and catch up with them on a regular basis. I have travelled overseas, to the United States, Bali, Thailand and recently travelled to the United Kingdom for the first time. It was a wonderful experience. Looking at other countries, their cultures and religions, experiencing their foods and wines. I am certainly looking forward to experiencing many more opportunities to travel in the future. I am a people person. I really enjoy being around people and helping them. Many of the positions I have held over the years have put be in contact with a vast range of people, both face to face, over the phone and via correspondence. I feel extremely confident that I can communicate and be of assistance to your company. I am a reliable person and would give you my full commitment.
