About me

I was motivated to become a Social Carer through my passion for inclusion, empathy, and service. My background as a teacher and disability support worker, combined with personal experience supporting my sister with autism, has shown me the importance of person-centred care in promoting dignity and independence. I believe I will excel in this role because I am patient, empathetic, and adaptable. I have developed strong listening and communication skills, can provide both emotional and practical support, and always focus on people’s strengths. I am committed to empowering individuals and making a positive difference in their everyday lives. I am passionate about helping people, promoting inclusion, and supporting those who face challenges to live with dignity and independence. My skills include strong communication, active listening, patience, adaptability, and empathy, which I developed through teaching and disability support work. I enjoy working collaboratively and building trust with individuals and families. In my free time, I like reading and learning about social issues, volunteering in community programs, and engaging in activities that promote wellbeing. I also enjoy outdoor walks, music, and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds, which helps me stay balanced and grounded in my work. I see myself as an empathetic, reliable, and adaptable person who works well with people from diverse walks of life. I enjoy building trust and creating safe, supportive environments where individuals feel valued. I am patient and a good listener, which helps me respond to people’s needs effectively. I also bring resilience and positivity, qualities that allow me to handle challenges calmly while encouraging others to see their own strengths and possibilities.
